A supportive School Environment is one in which all members of the school community are valued. This is enhanced with the provision of school personnel who give students opportunities for personal development, positive involvement and leadership in the school community.


 

 

 

 

Year Co-ordinators:

The Year Co-ordinator’s role primarily involves support and welfare for the students in their year level.

  • Develop proactive programs relevant for their year level, e.g. Social Justice, guest speakers.
  • Provide leadership opportunities for students within the year level.
  • Maintain behaviour management records, recording positive contributions as well as behavioural difficulties.
  • Identify students who are infrequent attenders or not achieving academically liaise other support staff to develop programs of support.

 


 

 

 

Guidance Officers:

  • Assist students with special needs in negotiating their academic course selections
  • Assist students with special needs in the areas of personal and career counselling.
  • Co-ordinate special consideration applications.
  • Make referrals and requests for specialist diagnosis and documentation to assist with the ascertainment of students.

 


 

 

 

College Nurse:

The primary responsibility/role of the visiting School Nurse is to provide preventative health care while addressing the sensitive and complex health issues for young people, their families and school community, through a confidential and equitable school and community based health service. This includes individual health consultations/counselling, health promotion presentations, school and community development activities. These activities are aimed at helping young people make healthy lifestyle choices.

 


 

 

 

Chaplain:

The School Chaplain seeks to assist teachers and parents in fostering the physical, mental, social and spiritual development of students within a supportive environment.

The School Chaplain has a particular responsibility for the spiritual, ethical and religious needs of students and other members of the school community. The Chaplain will model a Christian religious stance and lifestyle while being sensitive to other spiritual and ethical insights. Chaplaincy services are, therefore, available to all students without prejudice. The Chaplain will provide opportunities for exploring matters of faith and life, and offer specific guidance to any who wish to explore the Christian faith in particular.

The Chaplain also participates in a range of suitable school programs.
