Did you know that children aged 12–15 years need to be supervised by an adult when using Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs - such as e-scooters, e-skateboards, and solo wheels)?
It's important that riders follow the rules to keep themselves and other path users safe.
PMDs are designed for riders 16 years and above.
Children 12–15 years may only ride a PMD with adult supervision.
Children under 12 must not use a PMD under any circumstance.
Some other scooters are classified as Wheeled Recreational Devices (
https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/rules/wheeled-devices/skateboards
) and are allowed for this age range.
Ride solo – passengers are not allowed on PMDs as they are built for one person only at a time. It’s against the law to carry another person, including children. This means parents can't ride with their child on the same device.
Helmets – must be worn and fastened (fines apply).
Speed limits – maximum 25 km/h, but only when it's safe. 12km/h on footpaths from November 2022.
Share the path safely – always give way to pedestrians
