At Coorparoo Secondary College, co-curricular activities within The Arts are designed to offer students further engaging and exciting opportunities to develop their practical creative skills. Co-curricular programs are available to students at all year levels across the College who seek to enrich their learning through Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Art and Audiovisual disciplines. The specific extra-curricular activities currently provided are outlined below. For further information, please contact the Head of Department.

Musicals and Plays

Musicals and plays provide student with the opportunity to collaborate on large-scale productions. Our college has a proud history of smash-hit sellout shows. 2023's 'Back to the 80's'  was a raging success, with a large cast of students bringing this Jukebox musical to life. 2024 brought a senior play 'The Butler Did It!', a riot murder mystery that had audiences at the edge of their seats. Our 2025 school musical 'Legally Blonde' was our biggest show yet, with a cast and crew that comprised over a third of our school community. Our school musicals always sell out before opening night, and provide students with opportunities on stage, backstage, in costuming, lighting, sound design and photography.

Dance Troupes

Dance troupes offer an extra-curricular program to students who want to further develop their dance skills and technique. We currently offer both an entry level performance group and an advanced level competition group. These groups rehearse after school and have the opportunity to perform at eisteddfods, Dance X competitions, public performances nights and internal school events.

Rock Bands
Our collage provides students the opportunity to engage with contemporary rock bands at a variety of levels. With annual auditions for both intermediate and advanced rock bands, students have multiple opportunities to extend their instrumental and performance skills. Students who are successful in gaining a position in a rock band have multiple opportunities to perform throughout the year, including assemblies, formal events, open days, performance nights, galas and lunchtime performances. Our Advanced Rock band also engages with many external performance opportunities, with regular performance sets at local youth festivals, corporate functions, council events and battle of the rock bands competitions.

Audiovisual Club

The CSC Audiovisual club is an exciting opportunity for dedicated students who have a passion for learning about operating sound and lighting equipment. Run with industry expertise, the AV Club develops the skills necessary to set up and operate the sound and lighting at all College events, including weekly assemblies, formal school ceremonies, performing arts nights and sporting events. Students interested in joining the CSC AV Club should enquire with the teacher in charge to register their interest. Students must be available to attend out of school hours events.

Yearbook Club

The CSC Yearbook Club is an exciting opportunity for dedicated students who have a passion for capturing and celebrating school life. Run with creative and organisational expertise, the Yearbook Club develops the skills necessary to plan, design and produce the College yearbook, including photographing events, writing captions, and creating engaging page layouts that reflect the spirit of the school. Students interested in joining the CSC Yearbook Club should enquire with the teacher in charge to register their interest. Students must be available to contribute to tasks both during and outside of school hours.

Talent Show

Coorparoo Secondary Collage is proud to host a bi-annual talent show for students from years 7-12. Students have the opportunity to enter our talent show to share their skills as singers, musicians, dancers, actors, acrobats, comedians and even magicians. Talent competition heats occur once a week at lunch breaks throughout Terms 2 and 3, with the grand final falling on the evening of our annual performing arts night. Students are judged by a panel of teachers and senior leadership staff. Winners claim prizes kindly donated from local business sponsors and earn the opportunity to perform at a whole school assembly to further share their talents.

Annual Performing Arts Night

Coorparoo Secondary Collage is proud to host an annual Performing Arts Night for the school community. This ticketed event is the highlight of the year, demonstrating the highest achievements in performance across all performing arts disciplines. Students work throughout the year to develop items that showcase excellence in music, dance and drama. All students from grades 7-12 are provided with the opportunity to engage with our Arts programs as performers, presenters, technical crew, backstage hands and ushers. The night also acts as the final assessment evening for our highly regarded Certificate IV in Music program.
