RATIONALE: Acceleration Day for Student Success (ADSS) is held every Friday for all students at Coorparoo Secondary College. It is a day, where students are able to engage in activities outside the traditional classroom setting that foster personal growth, enhance life skills, and encourage exploration of various interests and passions. It is a dedicated day for students to step away from curriculum and focus on becoming healthy, productive, life-long learners and job-ready citizens. ADSS gives our students every possible opportunity to succeed and delivers our vision of realising the potential of every student.
For our senior students in years 11 and 12, it is a day where they are provided time to complete work in alignment to their future pathway including TAFE, Traineeships, apprenticeships and work experience. Students who require additional support to complete assessment may be required on site to complete work.
Year 10 students complete a certificate course with a combination of on-site activities provided by external providers and at home activities including study.
Students in Junior Secondary have the opportunity to participate in workshops, community service projects, career exploration, passion projects, entrepreneurial challenges, arts and sports activities, and interactive sessions with guest speakers. And they do this in three distinct sessions under the key drivers that support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence strategy:

The goal of ADSS is to provide a holistic educational experience that goes beyond textbooks and exams, empowering students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and emotional intelligence. By embracing a diverse range of activities, ADSS aims to nurture well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also socially adept and emotionally resilient.
Furthermore, ADSS serves as a platform for students to build meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers, fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. It is a day filled with creativity, curiosity, and inspiration, allowing students to broaden their horizons, discover their strengths, and challenge themselves in new and exciting ways.
Acceleration Day for Student Success plays a vital role in shaping well-rounded, confident, and motivated individuals, preparing them to become successful contributors to society and adaptable problem-solvers in an ever-changing world.
